Roaming down Florence’s cobblestone streets and through its quaint piazzas, you’ll inevitably pass gelaterias. Here, gelato is more than a warm-weather treat. It’s an art form, a staple of Italy’s gastronomic culture.
Just outside of Central London is Greenwich Village. Noted for its rich naval history, the village seems to move at a much slower pace than the city center. Walk through the Old Royal Naval College and observe an architectural marvel with the river Thames as a backdrop. Instead of mobs of tourists, you will see the occasional university student on their way to class, as the complex has been repurposed into Greenwich University’s campus. Once you’ve wandered through the Old Royal Naval College, visit Greenwich Park just past the Queen’s House. The lush greenery seems to fit right into the surrounding village, unlike many of the other Royal Parks in London. If you can endure the hike, climb the hill to the Royal Observatory for panoramic views of Greenwich and the River Thames below.
